A bit about the role

You will work as part of a small team primarily on technical tickets - within agreed timescales and Service Level agreements. As a Birchman Senior BASIS consultant, you will be responsible for seeking resolutions to client platform, system and hardware problems which require a broad and deep knowledge of the platforms used by Birchman’s existing customer installations. Using investigative skills, the role focuses on seeking out and delivering the most appropriate solutions successfully to clients, - ensuring that solutions meet the clients’ requirements.

What we want from you

Senior Experience: Proven experience as a Senior SAP Basis Consultant with a minimum of 5+ years in a similar role.
SAP Basis Expertise: Strong understanding of core SAP Basis concepts like system administration, security, user management, and performance optimisation.
Technical Skills: Experience with various SAP modules (ECC, S/4HANA etc.) and platforms (Windows, SLES, HANA, Linux) is a plus. Familiarity with databases like MSSQL and Oracle is beneficial.
Problem-Solving and Communication: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills combined with strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Documentation Skills: Ability to create clear and concise documentation to support internal and client needs.
Teamwork and Support: A ‘can-do’ attitude with a collaborative and supportive approach, fostering a positive work environment within Birchman and with external clients.
SAP Certifications: Certifications in SAP Basis (e.g., NetWeaver BASIS Administrator and SAP OS/DB Migration) are highly desirable.
Cloud Skills: Experience with cloud platforms like AWS is a plus.

Your day-to-day

Client-Focused Delivery: Plan and execute customer-centric tasks like system migrations, patching, upgrades, troubleshooting, and performance optimisation.
Technical Account Management: Act as the Technical Service Delivery Manager (BASIS point of contact) for assigned customers, providing ongoing support and communication.
System Health and Security: Deliver monthly reports to clients summarising system health and security posture.
Incident Management: Utilise the ITSM system to log tickets when necessary, update progress, and follow documentation standards.
Client Documentation: Develop tailored documentation to support specific client needs upon request.
Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with other Birchman teams to identify and implement optimal solutions.
Customer Service: Deliver professional customer service through clear and concise communication, either onsite, face-to-face, or remotely via video/voice conferencing.
Support Availability: Provide occasional coverage during extended hours on the Help Desk and participate in a rotational on-call support schedule (remote 24/7).
Internal System Support: Maintain and support Birchman's internal SAP systems.
